New Years 2012

I took my annual plunge into Narragansett Bay today. I was not alone there were over two thousand of my fellow penguins. Its called the Penguin Plunge and the organization has been in existence for the past thirty six years.

The Penguin Plunge was established to raise money for the Rhode Island Special Olympics and every New Years Day hundreds of people turn out to support this cause.  There was a huge turnout today because of the mild weather (47 degrees Fahrenheit).   Its still not your average day at the beach but its a great way to start the New Year.  Its a kind of cleansing, wash away the old and wake up to face the new. Keep the faith, Happy New Years!

  1. Wow, I am impressed! Good for you, what a great start to the year, doing something for the benefit of others.

  2. Oh, Old dog, I really thought you were joking when you posted about this the other day. I can just see lots of blue lips and fingertips out there. Great cause, tho. Hope your new year is going wonderfully!

  3. How invigorating, lol!! This is known as the Polar Bear Dip in Canada.

  4. Wow I am impressed...I would not be able to handle all that cold! All the best for a great New Year! Thanks for following my blog..I am now following along with you.

    Rachel :)

  5. So would you have done it if it wasn't for such a great cause?? LOL!

We have a bunch of looney tunes over here doing it in the Great Lakes. :)

    Silly, silly.

Have a fresh and Happy New Year!!
